Ladies Missionary Fellowship
Ladies Fall Into Missions
LAKELAND, FL -- On Tuesday, October 12, 2011, the Sunshine Ladies Missionary Fellowship
met at Fellowship
Baptist Church in Lakeland. Ninety ladies attended
representing fourteen different Florida churches.
The
morning speaker was Helen Wing who currently serves with EBI (Spanish
publications) in Sebring. She referenced
the theme, "Fall into Missions" by sharing experiences of her own life
as a missionary teacher to Brazil and also how God sees us through the
changes He allows in our lives.
Fellowship and lunch was enjoyed by all. The ladies brought their own sandwiches. Salad, dessert, and drinks were graciously provided by the host church.
In the afternoon session, four missionaries participated in a question and answer panel. These missionaries, Selma Barton, Helen Wing, Maribeth Smith, and Margeret Tolosa, answered several questions including their call to missions and experiences in pre-field and on-field ministries.
The offering for the day totaled $1,042.39. Praise God! $788.26 went toward a special project to build a wall in Haiti, and the remainder was put in the SLMF general fund.
Other highlights of the day included special music by a ladies' trio as well as a beautiful offertory provided by the ladies of Fellowship Baptist. Also, Maranatha Baptist in Sebring narrowly beat out Southside Baptist to win the travel trophy!
The spring meeting of SLMF will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Winter Haven on March 13, 2012. All the ladies of the Sunshine Baptist Fellowship churches are invited to attend.
